Are your Wheels Spinning?

February 24, 2016

Ever been in a situation where you desperately need to move forward in your life but it feels like you are just spinning your wheels? You are exerting a lot of energy  but it feels like you are not moving where you need to get to. Growing up in NZ on a mixed cropping farm, the winters would get very wet and thus ‘muddy’. Mud everywhere.  To navigate our way through some places on the farm it was essential that we were driving something with big grip on it’s tyres.  The good old proverbial FARM TRACTOR was just the thing. With huge back wheels and large tread on each tyre you could get traction anywhere without getting stuck. The more mud the merrier fun! Especially when I was driving - a boys dream!

Life is full of 'muddy' circumstances - loss of employment, alcohol and drug dependencies, broken relationships, failed marriages and the resulting awkwardness for the children.  Life is anything but easy or cruisey.  This is where God comes in.  The more difficult we are finding things the more essential we find God. He is a God of TRACTION. He enables us to find new 'purchase', 'grip' in our lives. Not only that but we find when we get to know Him through a personal relationship with His Son Jesus Christ, that there is a whole plan that he has set aside for our lives.  All of a sudden, not only are our 'wheels no longer spinning' but we have a new purpose and that is to follow His plan. The prophet Jeremiah put it like this:  Jeremiah 29:11 (NKJV) 11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

I want to encourage you to make a fresh start this year by linking up with God and discovering a whole new life of TRACTION and PURPOSE.  Your mind can be filled with CLARITY and your heart with NEW PURPOSE. You have got nothing to lose! When Jesus Christ died on that cross - He died for you. He took your place and paid for every wrong thought and action you have ever done. By coming to Him and acknowledging your need, confess your sins to him and invite Him to take up residence in your life. I did this 30 years ago and there has never been one regret since. Jesus will bring the TRACTION you need right now! Give God an opportunity today.
