"And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also. 46 For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God." Acts 10:45-46,

As Peter preached the gospel, the gift of the Holy Spirit fell on the Gentile believers. How did they know the Holy Spirit had fallen? TONGUES and worship! I am amazed at why this issue of TONGUES continues to be debated today! I am a simple man. The bible says it, I believe it, that should settle it!

Quite simply, the Jewish believers with Peter were astounded at what they saw - they saw the crowd suddenly receive the power of God manifested by the fact they all spoke in other tongues - just like what had happened to them on the day of Pentecost in Jerusalem. Their surprise wasn't the fact that they were speaking in tongues but rather the surprise that God would give this precious gift to non Jewish people! They were still in the mindset that the gospel was only for the Jews! Friends, I can't tell you how electric it was for me in a small upper room when our bible teacher Marty Woodward - was sensitive enough to the Holy Spirit's leading to stop the teaching and offer to pray for this same gift we have just read about to be given to some of us new Christians who had not yet received. That night the Holy Spirit bubbled up within me and I began to tentatively speak in a language I had never learnt or was taught. A language of heaven inspired by the Holy Spirit. This changed my life! It opened me to the realm of the power of God and the nine beautiful gifts of the Spirit (1 Cor 12:4-11).

Since this time I have had the privilege of moving in all 9 gifts of the Spirit over a 25 year period in ministry. I speak in tongues everyday - pure prayer and pure communication with heaven. The results are outstanding! Lives impacted are beyond words. I want to encourage you today - whoever you are - the gift of the Holy Spirit is for you! Taste and see that The Lord is good! Your life will be made so much more effective as you allow the power of God to manifest through your life. Yes - TONGUES are for today - the gift of the Holy Spirit is for every born again believer to experience. Trust me - you will never be the same again. If you have not yet received this gift - ask a mature believer who has - to lay hands on you and pray for this gift to come into your life. God bless!
